About this item
A brass kerosene stove is a traditional pressure stove designed to cook using kerosene (paraffin) as fuel. Many classic models are made largely from brass, which is durable and resistant to corrosion.
Main parts
- Fuel tank — stores the kerosene.
- Hand pump — creates pressure inside the tank.
- Rising tube — carries pressurized kerosene toward the burner.
- Burner assembly — heats and vaporizes the kerosene.
- Spirit cup — used to preheat the burner before ignition.
- Pot supports/top ring — supports the cooking vessel.
How it works
The tank is pressurized with the hand pump. Kerosene travels toward the preheated burner, where it vaporizes and mixes with air. It then burns at the burner jet, normally producing a hot blue flame.
